Jack Gilmore
Jack Gilmore is a Senior Software Developer with extensive experience working in the public sector and academia. He specialises in designing and delivering full-stack software solutions, with data at the heart of every solution.
His career
Jack has spent over 10 years developing his career in the public sector in various full-time and part-time roles across a variety of departments. This diverse experience has provided him with a broad understanding of public service delivery, the challenges faced by organisations, and the importance of using technology to create meaningful impact for its users.
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Computing Science and Spanish from the University of Stirling in 2019, he has focused on software development in the public sector, honing his expertise in backend development, secure web services and cloud-first architecture.

Championing open data
Alongside his day job, Jack is passionate about open data and community building. He is the co-founder of Open Data Scotland, a volunteer-led open source project making Scotland's open data more discoverable and accessible, and the co-founder of Dundee Data Meetup, a community that brings together data professionals and enthusiasts from across the Tayside region. As an advocate of free and open source software, he is passionate about building solutions that embrace openness, whether through open data, open standards or open source technologies.
Outside work
When Jack isn't working or volunteering, he can usually be found building LEGO, exploring new coffee shops, attending live music, or spending time with friends.
