Finalists at the British Data Awards 2026: Best Place to Work in Data

The British Data Awards celebrate some of the UK’s most impactful and innovative data work. With a record 462 nominations received this year, we’re proud to have been shortlisted as finalists for Best Place to Work in Data.

This is our second nomination at the British Data Awards 2026, and it reflects something we care about just as much as our client work — the kind of place we are to work in data.

What this award means to us

Register Dynamics is a small, people-first data and technology consultancy based in London, and this recognition feels like a celebration of the team behind the work.

This nomination reflects the people behind Register Dynamics, and the teams who bring energy, commitment, and real care to everything that we do. We’re a small team, but we care deeply about what we do and how we do it. We support each other to learn, take ownership, and grow, and we try to create space for different perspectives, skills, and ways of working to thrive. That balance of high-quality work and genuine respect for people is something we’re very proud of.

Why we think this is a great place to work in data

If we had to sum it up, there are four things that make Register Dynamics a uniquely great place to work in data.

Values-driven projects and partnerships

It’s fulfilling (and motivating!) to feel a sense of purpose at work that aligns with personal values. Social values are front and centre here, driving the projects we choose to bid for, the partnerships we seek out and foster, and how we approach the day-to-day work we do.

Staff members weigh in on project bids and partnership outreach, factoring in the potential for positive social impact. As a company, we’re also committed to reducing our carbon footprint, including by supporting clients to adopt practices which reduce emissions wherever possible.

Dedication to multidisciplinary work and user-centred design

There’s a supportive company culture at Register Dynamics that encourages open communication and a flat hierarchy in which all ideas are valued. There’s a rare sense of trust and autonomy here, a genuine respect for skills from many disciplines. I can personally say I’ve never before worked in an environment that didn’t openly prize one type of skill set over others.

This culture filters into and draws on our user-centred project work. It’s an amazing thing to wrangle data, but even more amazing to do it in service to well-researched user needs and service and content design best practices. It’s a way of democratising the vast troves of information governments and companies collect and store. In partnership with the extended multidisciplinary teams we do projects with, this user centredness is integral to our people-first mission.

A culture of learning and a growth mindset

I mean this in the best way: this is a team of total nerds, people who love to share their passions and learn new things. This culture of learning and growth is apparent in the wide range of projects we enthusiastically take on, each of which requires us to learn about new industries and specialist subjects.

It’s also apparent in our team traditions around learning and sharing, including a weekly “Dealer’s Choice” time slot for any staff member to talk about any topic. All staff are encouraged to access training, including courses, conferences, and self-directed learning.

Work/life balance and flexibility

Finally, there are the nuts and bolts of wellbeing. We’re signed up to the Mental Health at Work Commitment and an open, supportive environment around mental health is a clear priority. There are frequent calls for staff feedback, including both anonymous surveys and group discussions around policies like annual and parental leave (which is competitive).

Remote and asynchronous working is enabled (and championed) so that the team can work flexibly and sustainably– there are still opportunities for in-person meet-ups as a team.

Proud to be a finalist

To sum up, at Register Dynamics we enjoy and have agency over impactful, user-centred work. We learn and grow together. There’s also a committed respect of and support for our different lifestyles, backgrounds, and challenges.

We’re incredibly proud to be finalists in the British Data Awards 2026 for Best Place to Work in Data.
