Register Dynamics has been a supplier on G-Cloud for almost a decade, having first joined the framework in 2018.

Over the years, we’ve seen the framework evolve alongside the changing needs of the public sector and we’re pleased to now be part of its latest and largest iteration, G-Cloud 15.

What is G-Cloud 15?

G-Cloud is the UK government’s procurement framework that enables public sector organisations to buy cloud-based computing services quickly and compliantly without needing to run a lengthy tender process.

G-Cloud 15 brings together three separate frameworks: Cloud Compute 2, and Lots 1-3 and 4 of G-Cloud 14. These have been consolidated into a single agreement with an estimated value of around £14 billion over a four-year term.

It is the first G-Cloud agreement launched since the new Government Commercial Agency (GCA) was formed. It also represents the first G-Cloud iteration to operate under the new Procurement Act 2023 and to adopt an open framework format.

What does G-Cloud 15 mean for buyers?

For public sector organisations, G-Cloud 15 provides a route to access a wide range of cloud and specialist technology services from pre-assessed suppliers.

By bringing together three previously separate frameworks, it makes it easier for public sector customers from NHS trusts to local authorities to buy all their cloud services in one agreement.

The new framework is designed to make it easier to find and appoint the right supplier. It introduces a new classification system and includes a more comprehensive evaluation of suppliers, covering areas including quality, technical capability, price and social value.

This means buyers can have confidence that the suppliers available through the framework have been assessed against a consistent set of requirements.

There is also greater flexibility in how contracts can be awarded, with routes available both with and without competition.

Call-off contracts can run up to a maximum of 60 months, giving buyers and suppliers the opportunity to build and optimise longer term partnerships.

How does it work in practice?

For example, Genomics England and Sport England have both used G-Cloud to work with Register Dynamics, with different needs and starting points. G-Cloud provides a route to bring in data and technology expertise for a specific piece of work, to complement an existing team, or to provide ongoing support as needs develop.
